In January 1976, when the Bay City Rollers sprang out with their second album Rock and Roll Love Letter, and their second hit Money Honey, and made such hot appearances on American Bandstand and the Midnight Special, I would just flip wild over such hot songs and performances, that I could not get the Bay City Rollers off my mind, and I was really, really hoping they would come out with alot more albums and radio hits than they already started with. Plus all my friends in school loved Saturday Night and Money Honey just as much as I did, and the first time I heard Saturday Night on the radio, everybody just went so wild, I didn't know what they were talking about. With all that"S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT" stuff, I thought to myself, "What in the world is all this about?" And every time I looked on a jukebox or on a record label, it would say SATURDAY NIGHT BAY CITY ROLLERS, and then one evening I saw the single at the record store, I asked my Dad to buy it for me. I wasn't sure what song it was, but I was really hoping it would be the song I was looking for, once I put the needle on the record. I was just counting really highly on it, and the next thing I heard, after a few scratches, "S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT", just like my friends were singing and just like I'd been wanting to hear. Yep! That was how I first became a true, dedicated fan of the Bay City Rollers, and how Rollermania really opened up the best in me, and turned my life completely around. Before I sign off, I would like to give a huge shout out to Alan, Eric, Woody, Derek and Leslie, saying Happy 45 years, and let Rollermania live on forever. Your biggest Rollermaniac ever, Shaggy

PJ Proby has a much higher chance of being elected to The Hall than these guys.

Considering they sold over 100 million records, second only to the Beatles they absolutely should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ! They really were the first big boy band and were loved and cherished by millions all
Over the world

That '100 million sales' claim has since been debunked!

It now says 120 million on the wiki page. They don't appear to be that rich...

Give a listen to the lps Elevator, Voxx, Ricochet. Then say they should not be in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame with the song writing that was theirs.

They have sold 120 m albums worldwide, were the first boy band and still have millions of adoring fans. They got royally screwed by their manager and record company yet still remained humble. If anyone deserves this honor it is the Bay City Rollers.

The Rollers were a big part of music history, loved by so many & their songs are still being played today. They have a huge world wide fan base who have followed them since they started. Talented musicians & songwriters who deserve their place in musical history.

Get bent- no one but aging housewives care anymore!

The Bay City Rollers ruled the pop charts in the UK before making their debut in the USA and Canada. Once they hit North America Rollermania struck there as well. Hit after hit. Saturday Night, Bye bye baby, Remember, Summerlove sensation, Money honey, Rock & roll love letter, Don't stop the music, You made me believe in magic...I could go on and on. Anyone else that has had that many hits is in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame and the Rollers should be as well. They are the only other band besides the Beatles to have a "Mania" so it's well deserved.

BCR should definitely be in the Rock and Roll HOF. Unfortunatly they won't be. Just like the boy bands of the 90's. But BCR will always always be my first love.

The Bay City Rollers were and still are very talented.
I would chose to go to one of their concerts over the Rolling Stones, Phil Collins or anyone else. To this day they have a fan base ranging from teens to 90+ year olds. Most of the band members play more than 1 instrument and can sing. In fact I recently found out that the lead guitarist Eric Faulkner even played his viola for the Queen when just a child. By the way he can play the guitar, viola, violin, mandolin, and piano. The other band members play multiple instruments as well. Their drummer to me and by hearing from many other people is the best drummer to this day. I also found a radio station Forth Valley Radio, I have the app now, their link is https://www.forthvalleyradio.co.uk/. On Friday nights at 8 pm, United Kingdom time, plays 3 hours of Bay City Rollers' Music. Requests come in from all over the world like Japan, Germany. Australia, the USA, etc. I now have friends from all over the world because of the happy, love, joyful and infectious music and musical talent this band has given the world. We even communicate daily and support each other. I absolutely believe this band should be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame! The Bay City Rollers sold over 120 million albums which was phenomenal for the 70s into early 80s. If you are saying they do 't write their own songs you better check for the songs written by Faulkner/Wood, example is Money Honey. Also check out the music they wrote on their Ricochet, Elevator, and Voxx albums.
They have brought so much love, happiness, and togetherness to the world with their musical talents. This is a Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Band!!!!!!

They should have already been in the Hall of Fame.

I have been a fan since I was a teenager. still listen to the great songs. They still have a big following around the world. They deserve to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame they were a group of special guys. they have a big place in my heart

They were not the first boy band at all! How absurd! The Beatles, The Stones, The Monkees, T-Rex & The Osmonds were boy bands before the Bay City Rollers! The BCR were great and there is absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be inducted into the Hall of fame. They're one of the biggest bands of all time and brought joy, happiness & pleasure to absolutely millions around the whole world! The band themselves wrote 84 of their own released songs plus more in the vault. Love me like I love you being a particular classic! It's just very sad that Les, Alan & Ian are no longer alive to attend the ceremony. Les would of loved to have been there and who knows, they even might have performed!

The Bay City Rollers should have been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along time ago. They made it big when it was alot harder. They paid their dues, and should get the credit the deserved.

People need to get over their prejudice of this band.
They worked hard, wrote great songs, played great shows and left a big impression on the 1970s that continues today. As stated already many fans around the world continue to love of this band and gain new fans.

Posted by Susan on Sunday, 03/20/2022 @ 22:06pm

The Bay City Rollers have been largely forgotten by the mainstream media but back in the mid 1970s they were absolutely huge stars. They were universally adored by their fans and even though those fans are now middle aged, their love and support for the band remains undiminished. They deserve more than anybody else to be recognised and honoured and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. During their heyday they were never afforded the respect they deserved and just dismissed as a 'teenybop band' but they were so much more than that.

I am so sick of the people who put down the BCR. They are extremely talented musicians who gained a worldwide fan base at a time when there was no YouTube or internet to give you a jump-start. They worked hard and paid their dues. They also brought beauty and happiness to millions of people, who remain faithful fans, even after all of these years.

Bay city rollers outsell most bands and are not in hall of fame. Posh tuck up numpties not voting them in. So wrong

They ABSOLUTELY should be in the R&R HOF! They were fun and innocent with great music. Take away the image and more people would admit to liking them. Oh there are a LOT of guys admitting to liking them now too!! They surely got a raw deal but they created love, fun, and continuing friendships and this year, 2024, there are many big celebrations of their first album being born 50 years ago!

Get them the space they deserve!!!
