Wow I am the first to say a thing?
He said a lot in just one tune though he had many other great songs .
Sometimes one hit says it all!
There is something about a band/person that can say so much in one song,
Many times it takes a band/person many songs to
get the messge to the masses.
He did it with Eve of Distruction....Wow !
now that is true talent an influence, to all that hope they can be heard , even if it is just one song!
Yes

Barry McGuire will remain uninducted largely for the same reasons as other one-hit wonders (i.e., The Archies, Terry Jacks, Zager and Evans, Bobby "Boris" Pickett, Rupert Holmes): minimal commercial success, zero influence/innovation, and all-around mediocrity. Mind you, I like The Monster Mash, but I would hardly call Bobby Pickett a great artist.

Eve of Destruction, OTOH, is a hokey number that sounds more and more dated as the years go on. Sorry, but having one notable song in your career does not make you a likely nominee.

If it weren't for him there probably would be no Mamas and the Papas (who ARE in the HOF).
