Squarepusher is better, Boards of Canada too, but Aphex is the original.

He should but electronic music seems more dicey than any other genre with the rock hall.

But wouldn't it be better if he was tagged by his real name? Aphex Twin is his most recognizable alias and the one which marks his most noteworthy work but he has composed important music outside of it.

Anyway, he is the major figure of electronic music of the past twenty years. If Kraftwerk shifted electronics towards the dance floor, Richard D. James is the one who merged the contemporary forms back with the older electronic music of the 70s. The Orb may have implemented ambient sounds into their mixes but it was James who made the two live together on the same plane. Though others created many of the newer post-techno forms, Richard was the one who exposed it to wider audiences, often in some idiosyncratic, highly imaginative form.

Most rock artists who adventure into electronic territory tend to use him as a reference point, Radiohead most prominently. Surely Bjork has been influenced by some of his work. He has had a definite impact.

Should be in, but will be COMPLETELY overshadowed by Pearl Jam.

I agree SAW II is an essential album. Has anyone read 33 1/3 about this masterpiece? I just ordered it. I would also recommend the Richard D James album. Anyone?

Pretty excited about his new album, SYRO. Hard to believe it's been 13 years since an Aphex Twin release.

Unfortunately at the moment, no electronic acts are in the HoF. This should change soon, as Nine Inch Nails will get in quickly, Kraftwerk has had 3 recent nominations, and Daft Punk's eligibility is getting closer. Aphex Twin won't get inducted early, but if we see the previously mentioned three all get inducted, the HoF should surely consider the biggest name in IDM (although Richard despises the term).

Which letter is Springsteen's band named after?
