Wasn't there a movie that just came out about them?

Yes it was called Anvil: The Story of Anvil I believe. I didn't see it, but I heard of it

These guys are what you can call thrash metal pioneers. They formed in the late '70s before the big four(Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax). Anthrax began out playing Anvil covers. In the film fans like Lemmy, Scott Ian, Slash, Tom Araya, Lars Ulrich all talk of how great they were. And they actually have some good songs like "Metal on Metal", "Forged in Fire", and "Mothra".

I meant, they didn't catch on because people were not ready for thrash in 1982. Which is sad because they were a good band and they have an album out right now called This is Thirteen(released in 2007), so if you are interested in the roots of thrash metal you should check them out.

No Band Ever Wanted It As Bad As These Guys. They Deserve It, They Are Legends And Should Be Recongnized As Legends. Put Them In The Hall Of Fame.

Anvil...... I just saw the documentary (a must see by the way) and it is impossible to watch this movie without hoping that they will "make it". I saw them a couple of times at El Mocambo over the years and they put on about as good a Rock and Roll show as anyone. Sidenote, when i was renting a house outside of my college days, Steve "Lips" Kudlow was the "handyman" and de facto landlord of the house that his sister owned (funny to see in the movie as i always wondered what she looked like). When i met Steve the first time, i remember thinking "damn, this guy looks like such a washed out wannabe Rock star" and then after finding out who he was, I remembered some of his old appearances on the Moses Znaimer series of channels (Torontonians, you know who i mean!. I gotta see them play, and it was a great time by a band that "gets" Rock and Roll. Even if the music isn't your cup of tea, watch the documentary about good guys in a good band....you may not become a fan of the music but you will become a fan of the people in it.

They are an interesting band, and (if the movie is to be believed) several established acts cite them as influences. If the HOF really does not cconsider record sales (as it has always said it has not) as a deciding factor for induction, this act is indeed worthy.

Definatly deserve it. Thrash metal pioneers, although with some of the other decisons the hall has made I doubt we'll see these rockers in, but we can hope.
