No idea, but who knows? They could become the new Pink Floyd, bringing together all the disaffected weirdos together. Or the new Captain Beefheart, bringing all the disaffected über-weirdos together. Probably the latter...

I love this band so much. I actually think they're really making the noises that animals hear inside their heads.

What is Animal Collective, Kit? Anything like Flaming Lips?

I honestly can't think of another band that's a fair comparison. THey are, if you'll forgive the redundancy of phrasing, a unique animal. I suppose they are similar to The Flaming Lips if you look at it broadly enough--both have injections of psychidelia, but Animal Collective just has such an earthy, organic vibe to it, as if sounds like this grew on trees. SOme of the most ridiculously bizzare and great music I've heard.

Is there something preventing people from putting "yes" votes? Their new album is something else...

What a horrible band....since when did mindless noise become music?

Posted by Classic Rocker on Thursday, 12.17.09 @ 18:36pm

Mindless noise? Um, they're one of the most tuneful bands out there....listen to anything they did from '04 and beyond, after they evolved from their avant-garde phase.

Let it be known that the opinions of "Classic Rocker" are not neccessarily the same as "classicrocker."

We are 2 different people.

When the mindless noise you now refer to as classic was deemed too tame by younger folks...
